Rational ignorance is the decision to not acquire knowledge when the costs of obtaining the information. Like time and effort are perceived to outweigh the potential benefits of that information. This concept, rooted in public choice theory, helps explain why people may remain uninformed about political issues or complex topics, as the small impact of an individual's decision often makes detailed information acquisition appear counterproductive. While sometimes a beneficial and efficient strategy, rational ignorance can also lead to negative collective outcomes, such as uninformed voting in democracies

Our goal is to inspire a cultural and structural shift in giving. Raising the average percentage of income Americans donate to charity from the long-standing 2% level to 5%. By combining transparency, accountability, and innovation, we aim to make generosity a national norm: empowering individuals to give more confidently, encouraging leaders and companies to lead by example, and building tools that make giving easy, visible, and impactful.
